Divine Shoes announced today that it is hosting a shoe drive to benefit Soles4Souls™ Inc., the international footwear charity that delivers shoes to needy people around the world. Every 28 seconds Soles4Soles provides a pair of shoes to someone in need. The nonprofit hopes to donate a pair every 14 seconds in 2008.

This January 26th, at the Parris Island Lyceum, Harlem Renaissance 2008 will celebrate the historic musical collaboration of Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington. Their jazz arrangements, like "Take the A Train" and "Deep South Suite" are a significant part of the legacy of the Harlem Renaissance, an intense and productive era for the arts between 1919 and 1940. Our favorite festive weekend is upon us! Once again, Main Street Beaufort brings us three days of old-fashioned holiday cheer on the street of downtown Beaufort.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at USCB, announces its FALL 2007 DISTINGUISHED LECTURE SYMPOSIUM. The series of lectures, presented by retired Foreign Service Officer David D. Grimland, are titled: “Islam and the West: The Historical Roots of a Conflict- and What is Next?” The dates are November 29 in Beaufort and November 30-December 1 in Bluffton.
