Proceeds from Tours of HGTV Green Home to go to United Way of the Lowcountry will be the charity recipient of ticket proceeds from the HGTV Green Home public tours to be held Monday, March 24 - Sunday, May 18 at Tradition Hilton Head on U.S. Highway 278, just east of SC Exit 8 on Interstate I-95.
The Heritage Society of Beaufort will hold its annual luncheon for members and friends on Thursday March 13th at the Dataw Island Club. A social hour will commence at 11:30 am followed by the luncheon at 12:30 pm. The Society is an umbrella organization supporting six National Heritage Groups currently meeting in Beaufort.
South Carolina’s decision to secede from the federal union in December, 1860 was not an easy decision nor was it made without thought of the repercussions. In the Beaufort district, it had been simmering for 32 years. “Many of the Beaufort planters still lived on the very land that had been carved from the wilderness by their ancestors. They were established, powerful, rich and proud; perhaps more so than any group in any community in America at that moment. They surely feared the consequences of their radical act, but they feared the consequences of not acting even more.”
The Beaufort Kaleidoscope Film, Food and Fine Art is taking place on March 6-9. The event is sponsored by Habersham Land Company and presented by the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce.
