I may be among the few human beings yet alive who can remember – and with fond appreciation – the superb actress, singer, and comedic performer, Beatrice Lilly. Indeed, she was known during her long career as the funniest woman alive.
No climate is perfect to grow everything. When Mother Nature was young, she allowed those organisms to live which could survive the climate into which they were born. Over eons, both the climate and these organisms continued to change and we have the living earth we inhabit today.

As we are hearing and reading reports of significant increases in new cases of COVID-19 in South Carolina in the midst of a statewide “re-opening,” the debate over whether or not to wear a face mask has become even more important. With so many opinions about face masks and cloth face coverings, it may be hard to distinguish what is based on good science and what is fiction. Here are some of the things you may be hearing, and the medical information that contradicts these common “mask myths.”
So how’re you doing with the pandemic these days now that our state is mostly open and “the numbers” are still rising… even here in our beloved Beaufort? Naively, many of us keep hoping that because we want this strange time to return to some semblance of normal after sheltering in place and please let us get back to life as we knew it “before,” it will magically happen. But it seems that instead, new uncertainties keep arising.
It’s cheesy, but what if I told you I am always looking for a silver lining and I discovered one in COVID? I was hoping to get into something lighter than COVID for this article, but if doing what I do has taught me anything, it’s to go where I’m drawn—to go where I feel I can help.
