Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. is the soul and Sinatra-singing season six winner of NBC TV’s “America’s Got Talent." The former car washer's Columbia Records debut album produced by Grammy winner Steve Tyrell spent six weeks at #1 on the Billboard Jazz chart. Landau's follow-up holiday CD “Christmas Made For Two” raised thousands for the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia and received nationwide airplay including Sirius/XM’s “Holly” channel.

Beaufort Academy is getting in the holiday spirit by presenting to the community its new choral ensembles. Under the direction of Victor Varner, Beaufort Academy is hosting a holiday concert featuring the Beaufort Academy Blue Notes at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, at Sea Island Presbyterian Church on Lady's Island.
When I last visited this space, I described how joining the Lowcountry Community Concert Band led me to a reunion with a college band friend I’d not seen in 45 years. Here’s another LCCB short story. During one of our Tuesday-night rehearsals, which are held at May River High School, I was chatting up a fellow tuba player, Lee Wiggins.
Randy and Dan are brothers, not necessarily born in that order. I should have named Dan (left) first because he is a treasured, long-time member of our Beaufort community; and because we owe it to him that his renowned brother Randy will perform with him, not just once, but twice, on November 16 and 17. Their concerts will knock your socks off.
The Center for the Arts will welcome singer songwriter, Jim Witter on Friday, November 9 at 7:30 pm for a musical and visual trip through the 1960s, set to the songs of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.
